ROTONDA is a paradise for all - from sun worshippers to golfers, and those just wanting to relax. For those who want culture, Sarasota and all it has to offer, is just 30 minutes north. Be sure to visit the Ringling Museum of Art. If you are feeling more energetic, then Port Charlotte and Fort Myers to the south has plenty to offer. Again a visit to Ford and Edison’s Estate in Fort Myers is sure to please.

Walkers and Cyclists will enjoy the Cape Haze Nature Trail which runs from Rotonda Lakes through to Gasparilla and Boca Grande (you can join it just over 2 mins walk from our home). Here you will see lots of local wildlife in their own natural habitat. Make sure you bring your camera!

ENGLEWOOD is known as the "Gem of the Sun Coast", "the Heart of the Sun Coast", "a bit of Heaven on Earth", "a place unspoiled by high rises and high prices", and "where the livin is easy". Englewood is a community of communities, set comfortably on an area straddling two counties, harbored by several small islands and magnificent beaches in a tropical setting. It is a beach community that thrives on its cultural events, nature parks, beaches, fishing, boating, and so much more.

If you crave for little bit of Disney Magic or Universal Studio Action, then Orlando is an easy 2 1/2 hour drive. Nearby Thrills and Spills can be found at Busch Gardens near Tampa, just 1 hours drive away.

The Everglades, Florida’s own National Park, is just over 1 hour south where you can see wildlife in its own natural environment. Do take time to enjoy an Airboat ride through these swamps …. You will not regret the adventure.

The areas surrounding Rotonda Lakes offer many opportunities for enjoying beach life. The following are all a short drive from our home:

Englewood Beach is the most popular beach on Manasota Key. Parking costs 25 cents per hour from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There are no lifeguards, but picnic tables, showers and restrooms are provided and you can walk along the beautiful boardwalk and catch a sunset. There are many places for food nearby.

Manasota Beach has free parking, picnic tables, showers and restrooms. This beach is on the northern end of the island with a small parking lot. A boat ramp can be found on the bay side.

Blind Pass Beach has no lifeguards, but there is free parking with picnic tables, showers and restrooms. This is the most isolated beach on the key. There's also a nature trail with dunes and wildflowers.

Stump Pass Beach is on the southern end of Manasota Key. It has limited free parking and is a great place to get a feel of what Florida was like many years ago. It's not crowded, has no lifeguards, but you can walk the beach from the Gulf of Mexico to the Bay and witness some of the most spectacular sunsets. Parking is free - but get there early on the weekend!

Our favourite has to be Boca Grande Beach. It is located at the southern end of Gasparilla island. It is famous for its pristine public beaches, historic sites, wonderful light house and celebrity visitors, being the backdrop for many recent movies! You must visit this timeless island at least once on your trip

A little further afield travelling north, you can find white sand beaches at Anna Maria Island and Siesta Key, Sarasota. And travelling south, Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island are also worth a visit!

And not forgetting those who like to fish, the whole area offers world class tarpon and shark fishing!

Imagine a place with rolling greens, lush fairways, cool breezes, and outstanding customer service. Rotonda Golf & Country Clubs is that place. This hidden jewel is on the West Coast of Florida and is just minutes from sandy beaches and some of the best fishing in the world. Oh, and did I mention GOLF…… some 99 holes of Golf to choose from. Challenging, well maintained fairways that provide a new golfing experience with every round. The weather is great. The courses are great offering a spectacular setting bathed by gulf breezes …… and all within 5-10 minutes of our own backyard
